[A] COCAINE courier was told that prison is the “inevitable” punishment for his crime.
Michael David Cameron was given the warning at the city’s crown court after he admitted possessing the class A drug with intent to supply.
The 30-year-old – a self-employed man of previous good character – is said to have had almost 30g of the illicit substance on August 25 last year.
In a short address to Judge James Adkin, Cameron’s lawyer, John Smith, gave some information about his client’s offending.
“He was in fact acting under the direction of someone else mainly, he says, collecting money,” said Mr Smith. “On this occasion he was obviously delivering a quantity of class A drugs.”
Cameron, of Hebden Avenue, Carlisle, had his case adjourned and is due to be sentenced at the court later this week.
Judge Adkin said: “You know yourself that’s a lot of cocaine with a lot of value to drug dealers, and so the inevitable sentence is prison – but I will determine how long on Thursday.”
