[O]n Wednesday 4 April 2018, the much-loved comedian, Johnny Vegas is set to return to popular Ullswater holiday park, Hillcroft Park in Pooley Bridge to open an impressive, new facilities block. Hillcroft Park became Johnny’s Lakeland ‘Home from Home’ for six weeks in 2017 during filming for the BBC series ‘Home from Home’ which will air soon on BBC1.

Johnny will be opening the brand new facilities building including a shower block that must be one of the most impressive in the UK when it comes to camping bathing facilities.  Many of the fixtures and fittings would not be amiss in a luxury bathroom at home!  Not content with high quality showers, basins, taps and tiles – campers will also be able to enjoy panoramic Lakeland scenes thoughtfully installed within the facilities themselves as well as a custom made Lakeland soundscape of dawn chorus, sheep and of course, water.

For families who prefer a little more privacy, there are two private bathrooms that can be hired for the duration of guests’ stay that include generous bath and walk in showers. The Hillcroft Park team are also developing a spacious indoor games rooms so if the Lakeland weather isn’t playing ball, guests have somewhere warm and dry to retreat to.

Johnny commented: “As a man too busy to take a bath, and as someone who has owned a camper van, I cannot express just how happy I am to be cutting the ribbon on a state of the art dedication to personal hygiene. Kudos to the Hillcroft team for improving on perfection. Soap on a rope meets heaven on earth. A modern no, no to BO. (Hopefully they’ll let me keep the big scissors!)”.

In ‘Home From Home’, Johnny Vegas stars as Neil Hackett who, alongside wife Fiona (Niky Wardley, Still Open All Hours), has finally achieved a long-cherished dream of buying a lodge in the Lake District.

Their ‘traditional’ lodge at Lake View Holiday Park means everything to them, the years of scrimping and saving all now feel worth it. That is until they wake up the next morning and meet their neighbours, The Dillons, Robert (Adam James, Doctor Foster) and Penny (Emilia Fox, Silent Witness)

Owners John and Jill Heath commented: “We’re absolutely delighted that Johnny kindly agreed to come back and help us celebrate the opening of our new facilities. It was a pleasure to host both Johnny and the whole ‘Home from Home’ team last summer and we’re looking forward to seeing the results on television.”

Hillcroft Park is open from March to November for camping, glamping and touring while their holiday homes and lodges are open March to January and two self catering cottages are open year round. The park is located just above the Ullswater Valley village of Pooley Bridge, a 10 minute drive from the M6 (J40). For further information or to book, visit www.hillcroftpark.co.uk
