[L]ed by landscape charity Friends of the Lake District, the ‘Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership Scheme’, funded by Heritage Lottery, has been created to unlock and reveal the rich heritage of the Westmorland Dales area and enable more people to connect with, enjoy and benefit from its inspirational landscape.

Anyone with an interest in the area is invited to attend the Westmorland Dales Landscape Forum on Saturday 21st April at Orton Market Hall.

It’s an opportunity to find out more about the scheme, its different projects and what its preliminary studies have revealed including the geology of the Potts Valley, the archaeology of Great Kinmond, and the landmarks of Pendragon Castle and Smardale’s Lime Kilns. A light lunch will also be provided as well the option to join an afternoon heritage walk around Orton.

Morning Talks and Presentations

  • 10:00 am start – 12:30 pm finish (doors open 9.30 am)

Lunch

  • 12:30 – 1:30pm

Afternoon Heritage Walks and Archaeological Test Pitting

  • From 1:30 pm around Orton

If you’d like to attend the Forum, please contact event organisers David or Nicola on 01539 720788 or by emailing [email protected]

If you can’t make the Forum on Saturday, an additional ‘Drop In’ session is being held on Friday 20th April 6pm – 8pm at the Market Hall in Orton. Booking is not necessary and you are invited to just turn up and say hello, learn about some of the projects and meet some of the people involved.
