[A]pril is National Pet Month in the UK, so this month CFM’s Cash for Kids are getting people out and about with their dogs to help raise funds for local disadvantaged and disabled children.
With 1 in 4 people owning a dog in the UK, Cash for Kids are calling out for Cumbrian dog owners to attend this charity fundraising event taking place on Sunday 15th April along Maryport coastline and marina to support the 1 in 4 children who suffer abuse or neglect, are disabled and have special needs right here in Cumbria and South West Scotland. It’s hoped that bringing families and their furry friends out for one big dog walk will not only benefit our pets, but will also help those children in our county who are most in need.
‘Wag this Way’ begins just off Marina Road in Maryport at 10:30am, where participants will walk together with their dogs along a 2.2mile route. The route proceeds via the cycle path towards Flimby, and heads back along the stunning coastline towards Maryport harbour and lighthouse, finishing on the green by Riverside care home. Aimed at all dog walking abilities, the event encourages people to keep active, explore new walks and enjoy time spent meeting other like-minded pet owners. Plus, all doggy participants will receive a bag of biscuit treats and a certificate of achievement too.
Wag this Way will also have a very special attendance from the popular Springer Spaniel duo Max and Paddy from Keswick! With face painting for the less furry faces, a raffle, guess the number of dog treats in a jar and Pets at Home Workington staff on hand for essential doggy advice, this first of a kind event for Cash for Kids is something to look forward to as the school holidays come to an end.
Entry for the event costs a small donation to Cash for Kids and doggies are encouraged to seek further sponsorship from their pet pals, family and owners friends. It will also be possible to sign up on the day. All monies raised at the event goes to Cash for Kids, which is put back in to the local community through their granting system to individual children and community projects benefitting thousands.
