[M]embers of the community are warmly invited to the second Bampton Plants and Produce Fair, taking place on Sunday 20th May.

There will be a great range of unusual herbs and all kinds of plants, both perennials and annuals, the usual and the exotics. Dalefoot composts will be on offer at special prices.

There will also be wonderful home baking and handmade artisan food and much more, right on trend with what is going on all over the Lakes and Cumbria today.

The Cafe will offer an opportunity to sample the extravagant home baking and of course, the now renowned, home-made soups and sandwiches. The occasion shall be accompanied musically by the Bampton village choir and our local harpist will be on duty to provide a soothing background of sound.

Strenuous efforts to garner support from local businesses to fund and present really worthwhile prizes have been made this year and in return it is hoped for an enthusiastic response from our visitors.

The popular Car Wash will be on duty again.

Jeannie Murray, one of the organisers, commented: “Last year (our first) we raised a magnificent £2000 for that wonderful charity Hospice at Home, who have provided so much care and comfort to many local families. This year we want to do even better and contribute even more, at the same time lay strong foundations for what will be an annual, unmissable, social occasion. Come and join us for a wonderful and fun social occasion in support of perhaps the most worthwhile charity doing service in our area.”
