The Diverse Cumbria Awards are back and bigger than ever

[A]fter the massive success over the last 2 years, annual event, The Diverse Cumbria Awards is now firmly in the calendar as one of the must-be-at events of the year for the county.

Set to be held at the Hallmark Hotel in Carlisle on the 18th May, organiser Ben Vollans is hoping the evening will be bigger and better than it was last year with more tickets available and more awards this year too.

Explaining the changes this year Ben said: “We decided to change some of the awards around this year and add an extra one; Diversity Events of the Year, as over the last couple of years more and more of these are popping up and I personally know how much work goes into organising these. It’s about time these hard-working volunteers get some recognition. We have a fantastic range of Sponsors this year too. Sellafield are the Lead Sponsor, and 4 of the 6 Awards are sponsored by Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner and ITV Border News.”

Guests who came last year were greeted by welcome drinks and a fantastic chance to network with other organisations and business, something many don’t get the chance to do normally and is something Ben is very keen on keeping for this year’s evening too.

The Shortlists for this year have been announced and there is a fantastic mixture of people, organisations and events who have made the list. You can view these shortlists on their website.

The Diverse Cumbria Awards have been set up to celebrate and award those making a difference in Equality and Diversity within Cumbria, whether this is through directly working or volunteering with minorities, or businesses helping making Cumbria a bit more of a diverse and welcoming place for people coming to live, travel or work within our beautiful county.

Tickets for the event are sold out, but those wishing to attend still can contact the team on [email protected] to be placed on the waiting list, but we have been told they have some discretionary tickets held back for those wanting last minute ones.
