[L]oss of power to the overhead electric wires between Preston and Carlisle is affecting services.

TransPennine Express Customer Advice:

To help you complete your journey, you may use Northern and Virgin Trains services via any reasonable route.

Please attempt to travel on your booked service, or, on a service as close to your booked service as possible.

Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Preston are also expected to be affected by this disruption.

Virgin Trains Customer Advice:

To help you complete your journey, you may use your tickets on the following:

  • TransPennine Express services between Preston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
  • ScotRail between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh
  • Virgin Trains East Coast via any reasonable route
  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh

Customers travelling between Preston and Glasgow / Edinburgh may travel earlier as ticket easement is in place.

Customers travelling to / from Glasgow Central should also be aware that there may be further delays at this station as some southbound lines are blocked due to the high winds.

National Rail expect a normal service to resume by 6pm today.
