[F]un was had by all at the Be Well Festival in Barrow in Furness on Saturday 30 June.

The health and wellbeing festival brought over 550 local people to Barrow Football Club to join in conversations about their health and wellbeing.

On the day, along with a pitch side picnic in the sunshine, attendees were given the opportunity to take part in a variety of different taster sessions including Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts and mindfulness. Additionally, there were plenty of fun games and activities for children including a smoothie bike, arts and crafts and a game of Beat the Keeper.

The football club was packed with stalls offering all types of wellbeing information and showcased local health services, partner organisations and voluntary groups. Stall holders included Cumbria Police, Cancer Care, North West Ambulance Service and the Blood Bikers from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

Councilor Bill McEwan, Mayor of Barrow in Furness, attended the event and said: “The Well Fest in Barrow was a beautiful day with plenty of people enjoying themselves. There was lovely stuff including healthy eating and lots of information from different agencies, all to keep the health and wellbeing going. Thank you everybody, it was a wonderful event.”

Visitors also had the opportunity to have a health and wellbeing MOT which included blood pressure checks and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements.

Dr Geoff Jolliffe, GP in Barrow in Furness said: “The event was a fantastic opportunity for the people of Barrow to get together, have some fun and take part in conversations about their health and wellbeing. I really hope that everyone who came along had a great day and that following this we can all work together to ensure that Barrow is a happy and healthy place to live.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the health organisations and our partners who put so much effort into organising such a great day!”
The community event took place on Saturday 30 June and was organised by the three local Rotary Clubs, Cumbria County Council, Barrow AFC and the Barrow Integrated Care Communities.
