Carlisle Crown Court

[A] MAN who had denied alleged indecent assaults on two children has been found not guilty by a jury of all the charges he faced.

William Christopher Harrison, went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court.

He had pleaded not guilty to five charges. Three of these alleged indecent assaults of a young girl of primary school age. Two alleged the indecent assault of a young boy.

All of the allegations dated back to the 1970s.

Mr Harrison, a 65-year-old man with no convictions, cautions nor reprimands to his name, denied any wrongdoing when he gave evidence during a trial lasting almost a week.

And this afternoon, Mr Harrison, of Stainton, near Carlisle, was found not guilty by the jury of all the charges.

“The defendant can be discharged,” Judge James Adkin said in response.
