A north Cumbrian road will close from next Monday for drainage work.

Cumberland Council said it will carry out the work near Fenton, a village near Brampton, to help maintain the condition of the highway and reduce the risk of flooding from next Monday, June 29 until Friday July 10.

The scheme will run for 10 working days, with working hours between 8am and 4pm each day.

The work will take place outside Glenburn, How Mill, Fenton, CA8 9JZ.

The road will be closed on a 24-hour basis for the full duration of the scheme, with a diversion in place.

Vehicular access to properties within the work area will not be possible.

Access for emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
