[T]oday, (20th July), officers conducted 7 warrants as part of Operation Pillbox, an operation based on drug supply intelligence in the west of the county.
During the operation officers seized class A, Class B and C drugs, including 100’s of class C controlled drugs tablets as well as weapons.
Out of the 7 warrants executed across areas of Maryport, Flimby and Workington, today 5 provided positive results.
Detective Sergeant, Sam Johnson, of West Crime Command said: “We are committed to tackling the issue of drug supply in the communities we serve and disrupting related activity remains a priority for us.
“Illegal drugs are unregulated so the user has no idea what they are taken, they are literally chancing their lives every time they use. However, the use of illegal drugs doesn’t only effect the user, the whole community can be negatively affected by an increase in antisocial behaviour and crime.
“Violence is often connected to the supply of controlled drugs.
“Members of the public can help tackle the supply and use of drugs by reporting information to us, reports will be taken seriously and appropriately investigated.”
Police will use the information gathered today as part of ongoing investigations to target those responsible.
Anyone with information on the supply of drugs is asked to contact police on 101. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
