[P]OLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cash-in-transit robbery in Carnforth this morning.

Officers were called at 09:47 hours today (24th July) to reports a security guard was approached by three men as she delivered cash to Barclays Bank on Market Street.

The men who were wearing black and had their faces covered with balaclavas, stole the cash box she was carrying and made off in a vehicle in the direction of Slyne Road.

DC Corinne Cleasby of Lancaster CID, said: “Although there were no weapons or violence, this has clearly been a terrifying experience for the guard.

“We believe the men may have fled in a small red car – possibly a Honda, but later switched to another vehicle.

“If you witnessed the robbery, or saw anything at all suspicious around the time of the incident, please contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information should call Lancaster Police on 01524 596463, or if they fail to get an answer, 101, quoting log number 403 of 24th July.
