A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “This is not being treated as a deliberate act.
“Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“All parties involved are currently being supported by emergency services and the police are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident.”
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7.08pm, two fire engines from Carlisle West and Longtown were called to a road traffic collision on Botchergate.
