New homes given go-ahead in Armathwaite

Genesis Homes’ Armathwaite

Eden District Council’s Planning Committee voted unanimously in favour of Genesis Homes’ proposal to construct 18 new homes off Station Road, Armathwaite.

The application included a variety of properties suitable for first-time buyers, families and those looking for more manageable homes / downsizing. The proposed development incorporates a good mix of property types, including four bungalows and four properties allocated as ‘affordable’.

Genesis Homes addressed concerns raised by local residents, offering a new footpath to facilitate safe pedestrian access to the school and a ‘gateway feature’ that will reduce the speed of traffic entering the village.

With the head office in Penrith currently employing 24 staff and over 50 local contractors, this new development confirms Genesis Homes’ strong commitment to Cumbria. The housebuilder has developments underway in Wigton and Brigham, with a vision to lead the way in the creation of quality, vibrant and welcoming developments.

Genesis Homes’ Head of Land, John Blue said: “We’re very pleased to have received planning permission to build in Armathwaite, which will contribute to meeting the great need for quality housing in Cumbria. The site benefits from scenic views overlooking the Eden Valley and the Pennines beyond, with the station only a short walk away.”
