Whitehaven man who made “vile” threats and assaulted PCs is jailed

Carlisle Crown Court

A WHITEHAVEN man who made “vile” and “wicked” threats to police officers has been jailed for 15 months.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how a PC went to Carlo Bone’s assistance on the A595 between Bigrigg and Woodend, on June 6, amid concern for his behaviour.

Bone made threats to kill the officer and harm his children. He then kicked and head-butted a police vehicle when back-up was requested, and repeated his chilling murder and child harm threats while in custody.

Bone also spat at officers but was said to have “no memory” of offending which occurred during a drug binge “over two to three days”.

Bone, of South View Road, Bransty, admitted charges of threatening behaviour, assaulting two police constables in the execution of their duty and behaving violently in a police station. He also admitted burgling Whitehaven’s Betfred with intent to steal on September 11.

Bone was jailed for 15 months by Judge Peter Davies, who described his June crimes as “vile”, “wicked” and “disgraceful”.

“These police officers are human beings just like you. There is no reason why they should have to endure such persistent and continuous, hateful, spiteful conduct like that,” Judge Davies said.
