HALLOWEEN is the time of year when ghosts and ghouls walk the land – and you can find out all about them at a talk in Cockermouth.
Alan Cleaver will be speaking about the county’s boggles (the Cumbrian dialect word for ghosts) at The New Bookshop, Main Street, Cockermouth on Thursday, November 1 at 7.30pm.
His talk will feature Workington’s Salterbeck Boggle, Egremont’s Tannery Boggle, the Jemmy Lowther boggle and many more.
He said: “These tales are often looked upon as just stories to scare the children but my research reveals there may be some truth behind them so don’t dismiss them too quickly!”
Ticket are £5 from The New Bookshop.
