Police are investigating a collision on the A66 by the Embleton and Lorton junctions at about 12.50pm today (Nov 6).
The collision involved a motorcycle, ridden by a man, 48, from West Cumbria, and a Vauxhall Astra, driven by a woman, 24, also from the west of the county.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The motorcycle rider was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Preston with serious injuries.
“The driver of the Astra was not seriously hurt.”
The road was closed between Cockermouth and Keswick following the collision, all lanes have now reopened.
