Say farewell to 2019 with the Wordsworth Hotel and Spa in Grasmere as they hold their 8th annual Charity Duck Race on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve.

The race itself will take place on the River Rothay, all duck racers to meet at the Wordsworth Hotel at 2pm. There will be over 200 yellow ducks to pick from and the organisers are hoping to beat the £265 raised last year for a local nominated charity.

Catalin Oanea General Manager Wordsworth Hotel & Spa says, “Our annual charity duck race is always a crowd-pleaser and gives a real community spirit in the village.  Most of our returning resident guests take part and a lot of the locals and visitors to the area pop in and buy a duck to get involved too. it’s always for a good cause and we choose a different charity every year to raise money for. All money raised goes to support a local charity, so we are urging anyone feeling competitive this year to buy yourself a duck for a worthy cause!”

The prizes are;

1st prize: Gourmet dinner for 2 at the Wordsworth Hotel & Spa’s Signature Restaurant and a bottle of wine

2nd Prize: Dinner for 2 in the Wordsworth Hotel & Spa’s Dove Bistro and a bottle of wine

3rd Prize: Bottle of Champagne

4th Prize: Afternoon Tea For 2 at Wordsworth Hotel & Spa

Last Place: Packet of crisps

What better way than to herald in 2019 than taking part in a feel-good, fun event with friends and family?
