Sundays win at Stockport County Blues was a significant one for Penrith AFC Ladies captain Kim McCormick.
It saw her make her 228th Appearance for the club and in doing so she over took Chez Brierley’s record of 227 Appearances to become the clubs record appearance maker.
Kim, now aged 28, started her Penrith AFC Ladies career in 2006 when she joined the club from junior football at Carlisle City. Initially a midfielder, Kim has developed her game over the years and is now a defender, making the sweeper role her own.
She was made team captain in 2011 and has over seen the clubs most successful period including last seasons promotion to the North West Regional Premier Division.
Manager Simon Savage said: “This is a magnificent achievement. Kim has shown absolute commitment over many years to achieve this record. I can’t even imagine how many miles she has travelled all over the North West of England in the name of Penrith AFC Ladies. A massive well done and Thank You to her.
“Kim is a true professional. She leads by example, never misses training or games, and always promotes a positive attitude within the team and club. She is a great role model for others at the club, particularly our junior girls.”
