Workington retained the Shaun Hocking Memorial Trophy against Whitehaven last night in their traditional pre-season friendly.
The Reds won 4-0, and were particularly impressive in the first half when they built a 3-0 lead with goals from Brennan Dickenson, Luke Hunter and Jake Allan.
They scored a fourth in the second half through Simon Rigby as both sides made a series of substitutions throughout the 45 minutes.
Reds are back in action on Friday night when they play their first game at the Fibrus Community Stadium against a Carlisle United X1.
Whitehaven will return to action even sooner as they have a home game with Carlisle City on Thursday night.

And here are Whitehaven’s Brian Dawson’s thoughts:
Carlisle City also played last night at home to a Carlisle United youth team and were disappointing, beaten 2-1 by the Brunton Park youngsters.
Callum Birdsall had given City the lead early on but the United kids came back to lead, and indeed it needed a couple of top saves from Aaron Taylor to keep it at 2-1.
City did finish strongly, creating a couple of late chances but the young United side held on for what was a deserved win.
