Caroline Kaye’s talents run way beyond running one of the Lake District’s leading hotels.
Caroline, owner with husband Jonathan of the Cedar Manor Hotel at Windermere, has been painting for ten years.
Now she’s not only sold one of her paintings, but also won a commission for another.
Caroline’s watercolour of Autumn Colours, Ullswater, was on display in the welcome lounge at the hotel when it was spotted by one of the guests who asked to buy it.
She agreed to leave the picture in situ until Caroline can show it at the Windermere Art Society exhibition. But she also commissioned Caroline to paint a watercolour of the hotel.
“It’s a guest who loves coming here, and I was thrilled that she liked my painting,” said Caroline. “But it was an even lovelier compliment when she asked me to paint a picture of our hotel – her favourite.”
