Happy Hooves Riding Centre Supports Disabled Access Day

Happy Hooves Riding Centre is offering free sessions on their mechanical horse, Mr Williams as part of their Disabled Access Day event.

Happy Hooves Riding Centre, based just outside Penrith in Cumbria, is holding a special event to mark Disabled Access Day.

Disabled Access Day was launched in 2015 to create opportunities for disabled people to try something new, highlighting the fantastic facilities that already exist at venues, as well as a friendly welcome.

Taking place on March 16, 2019, Accessibility Mark has joined forces with Disabled Access Day to encourage more disabled people to consider taking part in horse riding activities and learn about the benefits of spending time with horses.

As an Accessibility Mark accredited centre, Happy Hooves will be offering ride and groom sessions at a reduced rate of £15 and half hour hacks for just £10.

Happy Hooves is also the proud owner of the only mechanical horse in Cumbria. Mr Williams will be available throughout the event enabling people to experience what riding a horse feels like without the apprehension of riding a real horse.

There are many advantages to riding a horse simulator for anyone learning to ride but there are particular benefits for disabled riders, providing a safe and controlled way for riders to gain confidence. The sessions on Mr Williams will be free of charge.

The event will start at 10 am and run until 2pm, with booking essential by contacting Happy Hooves by telephone on 01768 862153.

Light refreshments will be available and any advance bookings made on the day will receive a 10% discount.

Happy Hooves owner Alison Noble said: “We are delighted to be supporting Disabled Access Day and look forward to welcoming some new faces to the stables. Any opportunity to showcase the amazing benefits that horses can bring to people’s lives is very worthwhile.”

Accessibility Mark status is awarded to a riding centre that has been approved by RDA following training and assessment. The close link with the RDA means that they offer continuous support to the establishment to ensure they provide a first class experience that aims to be hugely beneficial.

Disabled Access Day 2019 is focused on highlighting the availability of Changing Places toilets, and the need for more to be made available. To find the nearest Changing Places toilet to a Disabled Access Day event visit the Changing Places website.
