St Benedict’s Year 8 Girls’ Football Team

The Year 8 Girls’ Football team from St Benedict’s have this week had an impressive win, which has taken them through to the County Cup final.

St Benedict’s put in a fantastic performance, beating Ulverston Victoria 14 goals to nil.

Miss Powe, Subject Leader for PE was highly impressed with the performance: “It was a fabulous performance today. We controlled the ball, passed with precision and mostly importantly where clinical with our shots.”

Goal scorers were Emi Rudd (4), Sophie Douglas (4), Ellie Callander (2), Keira Clark (3) and Laya McKendrey (1).

Mr Bridgman, Acting Headteacher at St Benedict’s said: “Congratulations to all the girls and the staff involved in the preparation and training for this match and the previous rounds. They all gave 100% to the final whistle and thoroughly deserved the victory. The effort, attitude and skills they showed were a credit to themselves and to the school.”

The game was played at home on St Benedict’s new artificial pitch on Monday afternoon. The final will be played sometime in March.

Team: Sophie Douglas, Emi Rudd, Kaela Reay, Keira Clark, Jessica Bridgman, Poppy Fitzwiliam, Izzy Foster, Jessica Kitchen, Layla Fatialofa, Sienna McNicholson, Ellie Callander, Laya McKendrey.
