A WEST Cumbria woman who burgled a pensioner’s home has been jailed for two years.
Hannah Louise Hardy was said to have initially paid to her 70-year-old victim’s Harrington house near Workington on December 28.
Hardy left but returned the following morning in possession of an electronic tablet she suggested had been taken previously by another woman from the householder.
When he told her that device didn’t belong to him, the 28-year-old went into his home uninvited and grabbed a watch before running away.
The pensioner reported Hardy’s crime to a neighbour, who chased the intruder and recovered the watch before flagging down a passing police officer.
Hardy, of Poole Road, Salterbeck, admitted a charge of burglary.
She was jailed for two years today (FRI) by Judge James Adkin, who heard the victim had “lost all trust in people”, and felt he had been targeted.
