West Cumbria man admits indecent baby image crimes

A West Cumbrian man has appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle, charged with distributing and making indecent images of children, court papers lists approximately 1,686 of indecent images.

Mitchell Cass, 23, previously from the Frizington area, is currently in custody, he appeared in court today (Thurs) by way of a video-link from prison and pleaded guilty to the five-charges.

The magistrates were given few details of the offences but, prosecutor Pam Fee did say the distribution charges relates to a two-week old baby.

There are three-charges of “making an indecent image of a child a photo / pseudo photograph” court papers list these categories as 536 of category A images.

The second charge is, 394 indecent images in category B and a third charge of 756-indecent images in category C.

Category A, is the most serious of indecent images.

The offences relate to on or before November 8, 2018.

There are a further two-charges that between 3 and 6 November 2018, he was involved in “distributing a number of “indecent images” of children. The five-offences took place in Frizington West Cumbria.

Mitchell Cass was remanded in custody to next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 7 for sentencing.
