People in the Appleby area are being urged to put on their dancing shoes for a trip back to the 1960s on Saturday May 18.

A Northern Soul and Mod family fun evening is being held at Murton Village Hall to raise funds for Appleby Grammar School’s South Africa Cultural Exchange 2020.

The event is being organised by Murton woman Mary-Anne Sadler whose 13-year-old son Ethan is going on the July 2020 trip.

It is the latest in a series of events being run by parents raising funds for the trip.

Mary-Anne said: “We are all fans of music from that period and it is so good to dance to. People can expect a fantastic mixture of Northern Soul, ska, rhythm and blues and so much more!”

Local DJ Craig Sowerby will be spinning the tunes at the event which runs from 7pm til 10pm.

Entrance is £5 per person and in addition to the great music there is a bar, raffle, food and good company.
