Police are investigating a reported assault that occurred at Hammonds Pond Park, Carlisle, at around 8:30pm on Wednesday, 18th April.

A 17-yeal-old local male, was walking through the park and assaulted by a group of youths shortly after passing the cafe area.

He left in the direction of Scalegate Road.

He received minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The members of the group are described as wearing dark clothing and black Nike Air max plus ‘TN’ shoes.

One member of the group was reported as wearing a balaclava, and another had his coat zipped up obscuring the lower half of his face.

A police spokesperson said: “Reports of assaults involving large groups are not common in Cumbria and no such incident has occurred since.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in Cumbria. Therefore I would like to appeal to anyone with information to get in touch with police now.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbria Police via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting log 221 of 18th April 2019.
