Prism Arts – Puppet Pageant

The date has been set for this year’s Carlisle Puppet Pageant Parade.

The community event will be held on Saturday 7 September and will be produced by Prism Arts with support by Carlisle City Council. This year’s theme is ‘Historical figures of Carlisle’ and will celebrate people from all walks of life from weavers, coffee merchants, to astronomers, to fishermen.

Leader of Carlisle City Council, Cllr John Mallinson, said: “The Carlisle Puppet Pageant Parade is a great community event which this year will showcase a variety of people from throughout the ages. With only a few months to go until this year’s city centre event, organisers are providing the opportunity to help out with the preparations.”

If anyone would like to help make the life-size puppets, they can volunteer their support by contacting Kat Prior by emailing [email protected] or calling 01228 587691.

Ali McCaw, Prism Arts, said “This year’s Pageant Puppet Parade will feature a kaleidoscope of people and achievements that have made the city what it is today. We would like to thank Carlisle City Council for their continued support and we hope that our local communities get involved by lending their help too. There are lots of opportunities to be part of the celebrations – contact us to see how you can play your part.”

The Puppet Pageant Parade will start from the Civic Centre, Rickergate at 12noon. Puppet making workshops will be held with local schools and groups on the build-up the event.
