Officers in Gretna are carrying out enquiries, including door-to-door enquiries following a suspicious vehicle fire in the town on Tuesday evening.

Around 11.30pm on Tuesday 25 June 2019 a fire was discovered in a silver coloured Suzuki Vitara car which was parked in Bensmoor Road.

The Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. Officers are treating the fire as suspicious.

Constable Garry Duguid said: “Early enquiries into this fire indicate that this was a deliberate act and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Bensmoor Road area late on Tuesday night to get in touch if they saw or heard anything suspicious.

“The car has been destroyed and the value of the damage is around £2,500.

“Anyone with any information which might assist should call police at Gretna on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 4682 25/6.

“We are also asking anyone in the immediate area of Bensmoor Road with any CCTV systems to check them for Tuesday night in case anything has been captured which might assist.”
