Self storage firm Andrew Porter Ltd has completed the third phase expansion at its facility in Kendal, Cumbria.

Opened in December, the company’s first 27 indoor and outdoor storage units sold out within a month.  A further 18 units followed in May and the latest phase of 60 units at the site at Dockray Hall is already 25% reserved.

The indoor units, ranging from 25 sq ft to 125 sq ft are purpose-built and protected by CCTV, state of the art alarm systems and key fob entry.

According to manager Stephen Gregson the firm’s personal approach has helped it win and retain customers.

“Our aim has always been to go the extra mile and come up with innovative added value services to make our customers lives easier,” he said.

“For example, in the cold winter months we provide free gloves to anyone loading or accessing their storage unit, should they need them, as well as free hot drinks in reusable cups.

“Year round we have free on-site assistance with loading and unloading items and we offer free van hire for customers who may find transport is a problem.”

Andrew Porter Ltd also provides free transfer from out-of-town storage units, making it easy for Kendal residents to keep their items close to home.

“It’s very pleasing that we’ve had so much interest in the new units already.  We were getting bookings weeks before they were complete,” Stephen continued.

“And it’s great to hear first hand how pleased our customers are to have storage local to them.  People often need self storage at stressful times during their lives, for example when moving home or after a family bereavement, so it’s a good feeling to be able to ease the process wherever possible.”

Andrew Porter Ltd also provides professional removal services and took over Richards of Kendal 20 years ago.
