Bike Park Dent Mountain Racing Team Compete in Alps Downhill Race

Bike Park Dent Mountain Racing Team have recently competed in a downhill mountain race held annually in the French Alps. The race, known as the Mega, is a downhill race down the Alpe d’Huez ski resort in the French Alps.

The mountain race is one of the most famous among downhill cycling enthusiasts. It starts on the glaciated summit of Pic Blanc in Huex and descends to the valley bottom at Allemond. It is a total of 2,600 vertical meters, over 12 miles.

Team Bike Park Dent riders, Tom Moore and Aiden Coulthard took part in this year’s race, both riders qualified for the final. Over 140 riders take part in 9 qualifying races. The top 35 of each qualifier goes through to final race on the Sunday. Team Bike Park Dent train on Dent fell and ride most weekends and nights.

Will King, Director of the William King Brickwork Solutions has sponsored the racing team this year. Will said “This was a massive step up for the lads. Racing in high alpine mountain terrain against some of the world’s top professionals is a fantastic achievement. We are proud to be one of the business sponsors this year.”

Tom and Aiden who form the team said “We got to know Will up the local biking trails where we have been riding for years. William King Brickwork Solutions Ltd works for both private and public sector clients. The family business employs 40 people from their office in Cleator Moor.
