Biker killed in A65 crash

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A65 in Austwick.

Police were called at around 6.30pm on Tuesday 23 July 2019.

The collision involved a blue and white Triumph Bonneville motorbike and a silver Land Rover Freelander. Both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Settle on the A65.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “As a result of the collision the rider of the motorbike, a man in his 70s from the Lancashire area suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.

“The road was closed for some time to allow emergency services to respond. It reopened around 11.30pm.”

Police are appealing to anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident or who witnessed the collision, to please contact them.

Anyone with any information, including any dash-cam footage taken in the area prior to, or after the collision, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Unit or email [email protected]
