CARLISLE Mencap is hosting a Sizzling Summer Barbecue at its Grace Little Centre for children in north Carlisle on Saturday, August 17.
The charity, which provides support and services for more than 500 adults and children with learning disabilities and their families across Cumbria, say the event has proved popular in the past – and this year they hope to have a very special guest.
Events and fundraising officer Phil Taylor said: “The High Sheriff of Cumbria, Marcia Reid Fotheringham, says she is hoping to pay us a visit which would be marvellous. Let’s just hope the weather behaves but it promises to be a fun, fundraising day.”
The event is from 12.30pm to 4pm and admission is free – you just pay for your food and drinks. There will be vegetarian/vegan options as well as the usual burgers and sausages.
As well as the barbecue, there will be a tombola and competitions. The event, in the gardens at the Grace Little Centre, next door to the entrance to Kingmoor Park North, is suitable for all ages. All proceeds to Carlisle Mencap. For further details call 01228 674393.
