Workington Town Council welcomed 130 children on their kite making workshops which took place at 11am and 2pm on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th August 2019.

During the workshops children got to make their own kites, which really do fly!

Lead by Alan Poxon, Kite Expert, children and adults were guided through the stages in kite making.  Alan also touched on the history of kites and kite safety, including the importance of never flying your kite near power lines.

A spokesperson for the Council said ‘we are delighted that 130 children turned out to make kites with us and we were able to put these workshops on for free.

The workshops get more popular every year and we are looking forward to seeing some of the kites they have made flown at our Kite Festival this weekend (Sat 17th & Sun 18th August at Harrington Marina).
