Barrow RNLI acknowledges long serving volunteers

L-R: Saul Mendelssohn, RNLI Area Lifesaving Manager, Alan Cleasby, Alec Moore, Dave Johnson.

Barrow RNLI has recognised the long service of three of its dedicated volunteers at a presentation last night.

Former Coxswain Alec Moore was presented with his award for an incredible 50 years’ service to the RNLI.

During that time, Alec has held virtually all the crew positions on board the Barrow lifeboats. Today Alec continues his involvement with the Barrow RNLI by being part of the shore crew team and also acting as a Deputy Launch Authority.

Awards for 20 years’ long service were also presented to shore crew team member, Dave Johnson and lifeboat crew member, Alan Cleasby.

The RNLI is the charity which saves lives at sea. In order to do this we rely on our volunteers whether they help by being a part of the boat and shore crew teams, or assisting with operations, management and fund raising at the Barrow Lifeboat Station. Nationally, 95% of RNLI people are volunteers.
