Carlisle Crown Court

A CARLISLE woman is facing prison for committing three class A drug supply crimes.

Leanne Bewley, 43, of Grey Street, pleaded guilty at the city’s crown court today (WED) to possessing heroin with intent to supply on April 12.

At a previous hearing, she had admitted – along with Carlisle man, 47-year-old Lee Palmer – to possessing both heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply. That crime was committed by the pair on August 7.

Bewley’s case was adjourned for sentence until October 24. Her barrister, Katy Appleton, revealed during today’s court hearing she had never previously served a jail term, but conceded: “She is aware she will be receiving a custodial sentence for these offences.”

Palmer, of Bousteads Grassing, will also be sentenced on that date. He is facing a lengthy period behind bars having clocked up a third class A drugs trafficking conviction, which triggers a mandatory seven-year jail sentence.

Both Palmer and Bewley have been remanded in custody ahead of next week’s sentencing hearing at the crown court.
