Appeal after woman grabbed in Carlisle

The taxi rank by Carlisle railway station

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident at a taxi rank in the early hours of Sunday (27 Oct).

A woman was in the queue at the taxi rank on Court Square, opposite the train station, when a man grabbed her by the arm and attempted to pull her from the line.

The man then left the area and the woman got into a taxi.

The man is described as 5ft 6ins tall with short brown hair and a short brown beard. He was wearing a long-sleeve, khaki button-up shirt and black skinny jeans.

The incident is believed to have taken place at some time between 12.45am and 2.30am.

Police are particularly keen to hear from the taxi driver who took the woman to an address in Denton Holme and may have spoken about the incident to him.

Officers would also like to hear from any taxi drivers who have dash cam footage which may have captured the incident.
