New Penrith Canoe Club B team off to a great start this season

L-R: Tim Mather, Luke Farley, Tom Coleman, Jeanette Wesselingh and Tom Nelson

Penrith Canoe Club teams have had a complete reshuffle this season, due to so many players leaving for university etc.

However, this gives opportunities for the younger players to come through. The first tournament of the season for the B team, in North West & Central Regional Div 4, was held at Cheadle in Manchester. There were 4 matches and Penrith won them all! A convincing start!

The first was against Lancaster University, who we beat 5-0 with 4 goals from Tom Coleman & 1 from Luke Farley. Next up was Bangor University, which was a closer match, but Penrith won 5-4 in the end, with 2 goals from Tom Coleman, 1 from Tom Nelson, 1 from Luke Farley and 1 from Tim Mather.

The third game was against Manchester University, who Penrith beat easily 5-0 with 3 goals from Tom Coleman, 1 from Jeanette Wesselingh and 1 from Luke Farley. The final game against old rivals Trentham Canoe Club was a closer game, but Penrith won 3-1 with goals from Tom Nelson and Tom Coleman. Looking forward to the next tournament in January.
