Keswick Christmas Choral Cheer

Keswick Choral Society’s annual Festival of Christmas Music, which offers the audience the opportunity to join in a selection of popular carols and Christmas songs, is always very well attended by both Keswick residents and visitors— it’s a good idea to get your tickets early!

Take your seats in good time for 7.30 pm at Crosthwaite Church on Tuesday 10 December 2019 to hear the classic “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

The programme will also include a new carol from Tamsin Jones, “Be Merry”, specially commissioned by the Society, and choir musical director Ian Hare’s “Love came down at Christmas” which was originally written for the Carlisle Cathedral Carliol Choir. Dr Jones is a lay clerk at Carlisle Cathedral, and Ian Hare, who was Cumbria Life Musician of the Year 2017, is well-known in Cumbria and further afield as an organist and choir director.

Tickets are available from choir members or from Bookends, Keswick, at a £2 discount (cost on the door £14). There will be a retiring collection for Crosthwaite Church’s Raising the Roof Appeal.

Further details of this concert, and plans for 2020, can be obtained at www.keswickchoralsociety.org.uk, from the Facebook page, and from the season’s brochure which is distributed throughout the Keswick area.
