Enthusiastic staff, owners and holidaymakers at family-run, Holgates Holiday Park in Silverdale have helped to raise more than £16,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK since 2015.

The huge total of £16,332 was confirmed by the national charity on  World Pancreatic Cancer Day (Thursday 21st November 2019), which falls during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

Holgates chose the charity in memory of the visionary, Frank Holgate, who started the original expansion of the Holgates Holiday Park group in the early 1980’s. Frank sadly passed away early in 2015 but his dreams for the parks live on through wife, Judith who is still a vital and much-loved part of the family business and with son, Michael at the helm.

Owner, Michael Holgate said: “We support many charities and worthwhile local causes every year but we decided our main charity partner would always be Pancreatic Cancer UK as its a cause close to all of our hearts.

“As well as being a family business, we’re also all one big family at Holgates – staff, owners, and holidaymakers. Lots of owners have had holiday homes on our parks for years, and like many of our staff, all have fond memories of dad. That’s why people are prepared to dig deep and we can’t thank them enough for their unwavering support. It means the world to have raised such a great amount for such an important charity and we’ve no plans to stop anytime soon!”

Sue Collins, Director of Fundraising at Pancreatic Cancer UK, said: “We are so grateful to staff and customers of Holgates Caravan Parks for raising over £16,300 over the last three years. The funds raised will help us to take on this tough disease, which around 10,000 people are diagnosed with every year in the UK. The funds raised by Holgates will help us offer vital support to patients and families, invest in vital research to help us see the breakthroughs we urgently need, and be a voice for everyone affected by the disease.”
