A MAN has admitted behaving aggressively with a knife following an incident in Penrith.
James Anthony Fargher admitted three offences when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.
Thirty-year-old Fargher, of The Sands, Appleby, pleaded guilty to affray, damaging a BMW vehicle and illegal possession of a knife in public.
All offences arise out of incidents at Clifford Close in Penrith on August 7.
No precise details of the criminal conduct were given during a short hearing in front of Judge Nicholas Barker.
But Kim Whittlestone, defending Fargher, stressed that he hadn’t directly threatened anybody with the blade during the incident. “He had a knife in his possession,” Miss Whittlestone revealed. “He accepts he was behaving in an aggressive manner, and that he was uttering threats – but not to anybody specifically.”
The case was adjourned by Judge Nicholas Barker for the preparation of a probation service report.
Fargher is due to be sentenced at the crown court during a hearing on January 10, when the contents of two psychiatric assessments will also be considered.
In the meantime, he was remanded in custody.
