A CARLISLE woman accused of attacking a female during an incident on the city’s Botchergate in the early hours of the morning has gone on trial.
Georgia Erika Gray, 21, denies one charge. This alleges she assaulted Abbey Tolson, causing actual bodily harm, on December 16 last year.
Opening the case to a jury at Carlisle Crown Court this afternoon (WED), prosecutor Ellen Shaw said Miss Tolson had been outside the Griffin pub between 4-45am and 5am.
There had been “some issues”, said Ms Shaw, between the two women regarding the same ex-partner of both of them.
Ms Shaw alleged that Miss Tolson “heard a shout” and saw Gray and her sister outside the pub.
“Abbey will say Georgia approaches her, grabs her by the hair, pulls her hair towards the floor and kicks her to the head and face area a number of times,” said the prosecutor.
Miss Tolson called police, was said to have sustained “significant bruising to her face and eyes”, and other marks on her body, and attended hospital.
Gray, of Spencer Street, Carlisle, has pleaded not guilty to the assault allegation, and the trial continues.
