Police are investigating a report of a woman in her fifties having been the victim of a sexual assault in the area of High Street and Croft Court in Wigton.
Officers were called at 8.43pm yesterday (Dec 9) and an investigation is underway.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Detectives are trying to trace a white man, described as being of average height, medium build and aged between 25 and 30.
“An investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.”
Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed anything that might be relevant or who has any information, to phone 101, referring to log 215 of December 9.
