Retired doctor denies failing to stop after A69 collision

A retired doctor has appeared at the Magistrates Court, Rickergate, Carlisle today (THURS).

Samin Ahmed Khan, 73, faces four driving offence allegations dated on the early evening of April 27 on the A69 road at Warwick on Eden near Carlisle.

The first allegation is he was driving a Mercedes E220 when a collision occurred and personal injury was caused to a pedestrian and Dr Khan failed to stop.

He also allegedly failed to report the collision to police. An allegation was also made that the motor vehicle body work on the car was such that it involved a danger of injury to a person, the fourth allegation is he failed to co-operate with a preliminary breathalyser test.

Dr Khan gave his address as Scaleby Hill, Carlisle, when the four accusations were read out to him his reply was not-guilty to each.

District Judge Gerald Chalk adjourned the case towards a trial on March 12, 2020 at the magistrates court.

The victim of the crash, Robert Wilson from Carlisle he was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, the 75-year-old has since died.
