
Police are investigating an assault on Market Square, Penrith.
A man, 32, from the town, suffered serious facial injuries.
The assault happened near the clock tower at about 2.20am on Sunday (January 26).
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Two men, from Penrith, aged 18 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
“They have been bailed pending further inquiries.
“The injured man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and later discharged.”
