Police are investigating an assault that occurred on the 30th January at approximately 5.45pm at the Asda car park on Burton Road, Kendal.
The incident involved two men.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A 19-year-old man was assaulted and taken to hospital with facial injuries.
“A member of the public intervened and was also assaulted.
“A 19-year-old man from Kendal was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and assault on a person occasioning them actual bodily harm and released on bail.”
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have been in the area with dash cam footage.
