HIS hit album White Ladder was one of the most successful records of the last 20 years.
Now, international singer-songwriter David Gray has become one of the fastest selling artists ever to headline at magical Cartmel Racecourse’s annual summer concert.
Those in charge at the prestigious course confirmed tickets to see the record-breaking Babylon performer on Friday, June 26 had proven extremely popular.
Geraldine McKay, Cartmel Racecourse manager, said: “The response so far has been fantastic.
“We were all really excited to announce David Gray as our artist for 2020. David hails from the North West and we know he has a lot of fans here.
“We’ve been lucky enough to welcome some incredible artists to the Cartmel stage, but David has already become one of our fastest selling performers.
“It’s going to be an exciting season ahead and we know the atmosphere on concert day will be incredible.”
Cartmel Racecourse enjoys nine days of thrill-packed, family-friendly National Hunt horse racing every year.
The 2020 season gets underway with the three-day Whit meeting on Saturday, May 23.
The annual concert day fixture takes place in June, with families and groups of friends arriving to soak up the atmosphere and entertainment on the track before the live music gets underway.
The prestigious course has previously hosted the likes of Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Tom Jones, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Boyzone, Simply Red and Jools Holland.
This year, David Gray will perform his global hit-selling album White Ladder in its entirety as well as his greatest hits following a family friendly afternoon of horse racing on course.
White Ladder features hit songs including This Year’s Love, Say Hello, Wave Goodbye and Please Forgive Me. It secured world-wide success when it was released in 2000 before going on to spend three years in the top 100 chart.
Geraldine added: “Our Concert Day is always a highlight in our calendar as well as being a favourite with our visitors and racegoers.
“Friday, June 26 promises to be an exciting and unforgettable day. We’re all looking forward to welcoming David to the Cartmel stage.”
