Police are investigating a residential burglary at an address on Leeds Avenue, Barrow.
The incident occurred between 9.30pm on Friday (6 March) and 4am on Saturday (7 March).
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The house is believed to have been accessed by an insecure front door and a set of car keys and the resulting car, a black VW Golf, was stolen.
“The vehicle was located shortly after 4.30am due to the diligence of a member of the public who saw two males acting suspiciously in and around parked vehicles in the Brook Street area of town.
“The males are described as both being aged in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a dark grey jacket with hood. The second male was described as wearing a grey top, dark pants and white-coloured trainers. The two suspects left the area prior to police arrival.
“Officers are urging local residents to routinely carry out security checks before leaving any area of their home unattended or retiring to bed.”
