Carlisle City Council takes action to reduce Coronavirus spread

Carlisle Civic Centre

Following yesterday’s government decision to move to a delay approach to Coronavirus, Carlisle City Council has taken action to reduce the spread of the virus.

In addition to supporting staff by encouraging home working, the council has also taken the decision to cancel all committee meetings until further notice and is reviewing its events programme.

Residents are strongly encouraged to contact the council by calling 01228 817200 or emailing [email protected] rather than visiting the Civic Centre’s customer contact centre.

Carlisle City Council spokesperson said: “Our priority is the health and wellbeing of our staff, councillors and our customers. We have taken the decision to do all we can to support the government’s advice to delay the virus by encouraging staff to work from home, cancelling committee meetings and asking residents to contact us by calling or emailing us rather than visiting the Civic Centre. We are also reviewing our events programme and will postpone or cancel events if national guidance advises us to do so.

“We will continue to provide services, ensuring that we’re doing all we can to support our residents and local communities.”
