Man arrested after two stabbed in Workington

Police were called to the Cross Street area of Workington shortly before 10:30pm last night (28 March) following reports of an assault.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries consistent with being stabbed.

Both men received hospital treatment but were subsequently discharged.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “One, a 51-year-old local man, was later arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in police custody.

“Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.”
